Why we build websites on Astro and Cloudflare instead of WordPress
Speed, security and lower maintenance. Here is why we moved our client builds to a modern stack, and what it means for business owners.

We built websites on WordPress for years. It is flexible and familiar. But for most service businesses, a typical WordPress install has become slower and riskier than it needs to be.
The trouble with plugins
Most WordPress sites rely on many third-party plugins. Each one needs updates, can conflict with others and can introduce security issues. Owners either pay for constant maintenance or accept the risk.
What we use instead
- Astro: a modern framework that sends very little code to the browser, so pages load fast on phones
- Cloudflare: a global network that hosts the site close to your customers, with built-in security
- EmDash: a modern content management system with drafts, revisions and scheduled publishing
- GitHub: every change tracked and reversible
What it means for you
Faster pages help both rankings and conversions. Fewer moving parts mean fewer security worries and lower maintenance. And because your code and content are portable, you are never locked in.
This website runs on exactly that stack.
